Key information

Student expectations

Clear guidance on attire, identification, rewards and how school, families and learners work together.

School attire

BCIS does not require a school uniform, but learners must dress appropriately for a shared working and learning environment.

Learners may express themselves through their clothing, provided their attire is appropriate and does not cause offence or embarrassment to staff, learners or other members of the school community.

The dress code cannot cover every situation. A senior member of staff, such as the BCIS Course Manager or Head of School, will make the final decision where an item is not specifically listed or there is a dispute.

Items that are not permitted

Learners are expected to arrive wearing clothing that meets the dress code.

If a learner is not dressed appropriately, their parent or carer will be contacted and the learner may be sent home to change.

ClassDojo rewards

BCIS uses ClassDojo points to recognise positive behaviour and give learners clear rewards to work towards.

Staff award points during sessions for positive behaviour. Rewards are based on the total number of points a learner has accumulated.

Parents and carers are invited by email to join ClassDojo so they can follow point totals and celebrate progress.

  • Point totals reset at the end of each term.
  • If a learner moves up the disciplinary procedure, 15 points are deducted.

ID cards

Every learner receives a BCIS ID card at enrolment and must wear it visibly while on site.

The card is issued after enrolment and normally expires at the anticipated end of the learner's programme. A photograph is taken during enrolment, so learners do not need to provide one.

Cardholder rules

  • Wear the card visibly at all times while on school premises.
  • Show the card when a member of staff asks, when accessing facilities and when entering formal examinations.
  • Keep the card secure. It is unique to the learner and must not be lent to anyone else.
  • Keep only one active card. If an old card is found after a replacement is issued, return it to reception.
  • Keep the card attached to the official BCIS lanyard.

Important notes

  • ID cards remain the property of Big Creative Training.
  • Hand any card found on campus to reception immediately.
  • Report a lost or stolen card to reception as soon as possible.
  • Cards must be surrendered if a learner is suspended, withdraws or is excluded.

Forgotten cards

  • Reception will issue a temporary pass, which must be worn throughout the day and returned before leaving.
  • A learner who repeatedly forgets their card may be sent home to collect it.

First lost or stolen card

One replacement is provided free of charge during the programme of study.

Further lost or stolen cards

Each additional replacement costs £3.

Reasonable wear and tear

Bring the damaged card to reception for a free replacement.

Wilful damage

BCIS may charge £3 for the replacement.
